Who is covered for an eye exam through the BC care card?

• People 18 years and under, or 65 years and over.

Medically required eye examinations continue to be a benefit for all age groups once a year or once every two years depending on the medical condition.

A medical condition may include one of the following:

• Ocular diseases and trauma
• Systemic diseases associated with significant ocular risk - eg. diabetes
• Medications associated with significant ocular risk
• Glaucoma
• Cataract
• Retinal diseases
• Corneal diseases.
